**Purpose/Key Responsibilities:
** 1. Supervision of the India supplier base to reward innovation and promote a 60-30-10 division of key commodities based on OSE (Overall Supplier Effectiveness) performance.
2. Assist Material Manager to maximize material supply excellence and competitiveness through communication with Tier 2 vendors.
3. Promote innovative new material concepts to appropriate HQ and LO product development teams.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
**Vision**
* Provide Vision to suppliers for the type of materials / components we want to pursue in the future and on key strategic initiatives such as complexity reduction, Lean, Vendor and Material consolidation, etc.
**Innovation**
* Finding and developing new innovative products in line with company strategic direction.
* Monitor technical and fashion trends affecting footwear industry and communicate them to product teams.
* Collaborate with HQ, and LO teams to identify material directions and partner with suppliers to develop innovative new materials that bring value to our consumers.
**Supplier Management**
* Ensure that new suppliers are released following MSMOG (Material Supplier Master Operating Guidelines) guidelines and that constants updates of standards (A01: policy for control and monitoring of hazardous substances, NDA: non-disclosure Agreement, SoE: Standards of Engagement, etc) are provided to all T2s.
* Provide forecast information on time and accurately. Understand supplier's capacity and limitations in order to ensure that materials are delivered timely. Track supplier's delivery performance.
* Build loyal, mutually beneficial strategic partnerships by understanding the needs and organization of suppliers. Organize their catalogues on the LO library and facilitate their participation on HQ fairs.
* Build effective communication between adidas-Salomon, Tier 1, and Tier 2 suppliers and lead supply chain initiatives to optimize material sourcing.
* Develop and implement strategies to support a well-balanced allocation of business among Tier 2 suppliers in the region in order to minimize risk and ensure competitive pricing.
* Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency in material selections and supply chain to reduce business complexity.
* Use material expertise to improve material sourcing and quality where appropriate.
* Collaborate on the execution of OSE program by collecting reliable data from all factories and work with suppliers to improve performance.
* Organization of seasonal vendor fair and vendor meetings.
**Costing**
* Provide input to Costing on material costing trends
* Negotiate and finalize final production material costs for new materials.
* Enter and maintain material costs in PDM database.
* Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year College or university, prefer study of polymer chemistry, textile engineering, or other material-related field.
* Minimum 4 years footwear materials related experience (especially leather, textile, or polymer) and/or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
* Understanding of technical and functional footwear processes.
